Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has warned that in-demand winger Scott Sinclair will only be sold if the club’s valuation is met.
BBC Sport Wales understands the Swans this week rejected a bid of £6.2m from Manchester City for Sinclair, 23.
“We’re talking about a very good player… he’s a very important player to this club,” said Laudrup after Swansea’s League Cup win over Barnsley .
“He’s still young, so if somebody wants him they have to pay.”
Laudrup added: “What is the right amount?
“If you ask the other clubs. they want to pay less and the chairman here wants more. But that’s the negotiation.”
Sinclair was left out of the Swans squad for Saturday’s home game with West Ham United and has told the club he will not sign a new contract.
Reports this week suggested Swansea had accepted a bid from City, but chairman Huw Jenkins said on Monday that a deal had not been reached.
The transfer window closes on Friday and Laudrup hopes Sinclair’s future is decided soon.
“We know the last two days [of the transfer window] a lot of things will happen,” added the Swansea manager.
“The only thing I hope is we’re not sitting here on Friday evening at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm and still waiting for something.
“I really hope that we don’t have to wait until the last moment.”
Laudrup made seven changes to his side for the second-round Capital One Cup tie against Barnsley on Tuesday night.
Swansea won the game 3-1 and Laudrup believes a cup run will be good for his squad.
“I’m pleased for them and I’m pleased with the squad in general because it’s very important that the players who are maybe not regulars, they play games as well,” he said.
“If there’s an injury, or bookings come further on [in the season], then they can go directly into the team. “That’s very important.”
