Manchester City’s new boss Manuel Pellegrini hasn’t exactly gotten off to a good start after one of his key summer transfer targets Isco has allegedly signed for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Isco had a great season in La Liga playing for CF Malaga a club that Pellegrini managed, while also turning out to be one of the stars of the Spanish U-21 team that won the European Championships.

The Spanish playmaker has not yet revealed where he will be playing next season but did say to Spanish sports daily AS the following: “Madrid excites me.

“They are one of the best teams in the world.”

Real Madrid’s President Florentino Perez, while being interviewed by 20Minutos said:

“He has a big chance to be a Real Madrid player because he wants to go to Madrid and Madrid wants him too.

“Isco is one of Spain’s best players and the coaching team believe he’s good enough to play for Madrid. I know he’s excited to come. It’s the same with me.

“If all goes well, we can announce his signing soon. Always after announcing the coach.”

This of course was in reference to Italian Carlo Ancelotti taking over the helm at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Betting has now been suspended on Isco with Sky Bets Chris Spicer saying:

“It has been a see-saw market with City and Real exchanging favouritism, but things have become very one-sided over the last 24 hours with the money and media implying he will sign at the Bernabeu.

“It also raises the question as to where City will turn next in the transfer market with Edinson Cavani, who had also been backed to arrive at the Etihad Stadium, also seemingly favouring a move to the Spanish capital.”
