Manchester United have been told they can sign Valencia star Andre Gomes this summer if they are prepared to pay as much as £50 million for the high rated midfielder. The Portugal international was recently thought to be on his way to Juventus but it appears the Old Lady have stalled on finalising the deal.

Manchester United certainly could do with another central midfielder especially as there have been reports that Michael Carrick may not be offered an extension to his contract which expires at the end of this season. Coupled with the fact that the likes of Bastian and Fellaini have not leaved up to expectation.

Valencia are reportedly ready to sell Gomes and couple of their other big stars as they bid to rebuild their squad but can’t afford to unless they sell some to bring in others due to financial difficulties.

The Spanish club was initially ready to sell Gomes for as little as £25 million but after having a stellar season in the La liga, they have changed their asking price to £50 million which is by any standard ridiculous.

Gomes is no doubt a very good player and I will be glad if Manchester United signs him but to be frank, he is certainly not a player in the £50 million bracket and would advise Manchester United to lose elsewhere.

N’Golo Kante plays the same role as the Portuguese and is certainly not as expensive with many reports claiming the Frenchman is available for as little as £18 million as a he has a €25 million release clause.
