WEST HAM boss Sam Allardyce watched in horror as Dan Potts suffered a sickening injury in his team’s crushing defeat.

The young sub, 18, was knocked out cold in a collision with Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna and needed NINE MINUTES of treatment.

Allardyce said: “He hit the floor as a dead weight. He was able to answer questions but not in the right way. They have protected his neck.

“He was out for a few seconds. When you hit the floor like that it might be a problem. He has gone straight to hospital with concussion.

“As he lost consciousness it is a minimum of two weeks I think before he can play again.”

After being taken off on a stretcher, Potts was taken by ambulance to the Whittington Hospital where he was kept in overnight for scans and observation.

The injury to Potts took the shine off a five-star performance by Arsenal.

Theo Walcott celebrated signing his new Gunners deal by scoring the fourth as the Hammers were blown away by FOUR goals in 10 second-half minutes.

Boss Arsene Wenger said: “We attacked with tremendous pace and played very well.”
