Granit Xhaka to Arsenal rumors has taken a step further and we are now beginning to see some truth in it.
The last time such Arsenal transfer rumors went viral was the Mohamed Elneny move which was widely reported and ended up happening. Now Xhaka is said to have agreed personal terms with the North London side, as per Bleacher Report.
This is coming after it was reported last month that the club scouts had watched the player a whooping 30 times already this season. There are reports that the club is ready to sign the player, as Arsene Wenger fancies the central midfielder.
The player is valued at £34million by his club, which is a fair deal for the 23-year-old. Despite being a natural in the central midfield, the Borussia Mochengladbach star can also play as a defensive midfielder when called upon.
The likes of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky are past their best, and reports posit that the manager is not intent on handing any of these veterans a new contract. Therefore a young Xhaka will be needed to compete for places in the midfield.
Francis Coquelin has not lived up to expectations this season; he has been caught tackling recklessly, with the red card against Totteham still fresh in our memory. He played from the bench in the game against West Brom which shows he is gradually losing his spot. Hence the need for a midfield anchorman cannot be overemphasised.
