Granit Xhaka is one player Arsenal has in the last three weeks been constantly linked with. Reports yesterday now claims the Gunners are on the verge of completing the signing of the high rated Swiss star. According to dailymail, the player himself has made it clear to Borussia Monchengladbach that he will like to move to Arsenal this summer should the Gunners firm up their interest with an official bid.
Xhaka has been one of Monchengladbach’s best players in tnhe Bundesliga this season. He was also key to their ill fated campaign in the Champions League. He has an average pass accuracy of 85% in the Bundesliga this season which is a clear indication that he will suit Arsenal’s passing-and-move style of play.
The Swiss midfielder who is reportedly vailable for £35 million will help bolster Arsenal’s midfielder. His versatile nature means Arsenal can afford ot play him alongside Coquelin or instead of Coquelin.
With Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini likely to leave this summer, Arsenal could do with someone like Xhaka and according to the report by Dailymail, Arsene Wenger knows Arsenal will be short in midfield if the trio leaves and is working early to ensure Xhaka is not hijacked from the Arsenal.
With some reports already claiming Manchester City also have interest in the player, it will be in the best interest of Arsenal to ensure a deal is done early before the Euro 2016 championship taking place in France from June.
Failure to get the deal done before the European Championship starts could lead to Arsenal losing out on their key target as if the player does well in the Championship with Switzerland, which is a possibility, his stocks will further rise which could result into a bidding war from other clubs for his signature.
