Borussia Dortmund defender Matts Hummels took the time today to explain why despite all the talk linking him with a summer move to Old Trafford, that he was never even close to joining Manchester United, insisting that he always wanted to remain at the North Rhine Westphalia club.
“There have always been rumours about almost every one of our players, but I decided not to make the move this year,” he said.
“Of course when the big clubs are interested, and Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s an honour. But I decided I wanted to stay here.”
