We all know now that Matts Hummers was never going to leave Borussia Dortmund last season, but the German international has given his strongest hint yet that his time at the Signal Iduna Park is coming to an end, and with him being linked with Manchester United since last summer the time may now be right after he told German football magazine kicker: “Basically … I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well being.

Eventually, I’d like to leave the Bundesliga.

“I’m being open about this because I’m not a fan of those who claim they are staying but, behind the scenes, have actually secretly agreed a transfer away from their current club.”

The German World Cup winner is exactly the type of leader United manager Louis van Gaal is looking for and at 26-years-old is a pillar that van Gaal can build his team around.

The Westphalia side will be looking to receive around £35 million for their club captain, a figures that Manchester United would have no problem paying.
