French giants Paris Saint-Germain now free of the Financial Fair Play shackles that prevented them from signing Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria last summer have according to the Guardian contacted Manchester United to let the Red Devils know that they are prepared to pay £47 million for the former Real Madrid star.

The question for Manchester United is should they bite the bullet and sell the 27-year-old for a loss after having paid Real Madrid a British record £59.7 million last summer.

It’s a tough question as it would mean United taking a £10.7 million hit, but should the Argentinian have another poor season his value would go down even further.

United manager Louis van Gaal has maintained that it is difficult coming to play in the Premiership, with it taking at least a season for players to settle in, so it will be interesting to see if that his thoughts when it comes to Di Maria.

Time will tell but with an offer of £47 million on the table it is something certainly worth thinking about.
