FRANK LAMPARD is set for a post-Champions League comedown – because he is unlikely to be in Roy Hodgson’s starting XI for Euro 2012.

FRANK LAMPARD'S SUB ZERO CHILL

Lampard, along with Chelsea’s fellow England internationals, was excused from the trip to Norway.

The midfielder, 33, was allowed a break after captaining the Blues to a Champions League Final win over Bayern Munich nine days ago.

But new boss Hodgson has decided on a first-choice central midfield of Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker – and will play a 4-4-2 set-up with genuine wingers.

It means Lampard is set to be on the bench for England’s opening game against France in Donetsk in a fortnight.
