One of Premier league’s best players so far this season N’Golo Kante could be on his way to the Emirates stadium. The Frenchman is said to be top manager Arsene Wenger’s shopping list for the summer transfer window. And if a report by dailymail earlier today is anything to go about, Leicester City could lose the player this summer as he has a release clause pegged at £20 million inserted in his contract.
The 25 year old Frenchman who joined Leicester City from French clubside Caen for a fee believed to be £5.6 million last summer has been one of the best players in the Premier league this season. Such has been his performance that he has been linked to PSG, Manchester United and Chelsea aside the links to Arsenal.
With Arsenal reportedly going to release Flamini, Arteta and Rosicky in the summer and the likes of Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey rumoured to also be on their ways out of the club, Arsenal could do with the signing of Kante.
The Gunners have already been linked with the signing of Granit Xhaka but with Kante reportedly available for 20 million and Arsenal having signed Elneny in January who can play the defensive midfield role, Wenger could decided to go for Kante who is cheaper than Xhaka and has premier league experience and … he is French.
With PSG seemingly more interested in signing Yaya Toure this summer, Chelsea appears to be the only real competition for Kante’s signature. However, Chelsea are not in the Champions league next season and that could help Arsenal beat Chelsea to the signature of the Frenchman.
And we should not forget the influence and repuation of Wenger among French players could also be a big determinant.
