Forget what you have heard this is the DM Arsenal will sign in January

With both Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla out injured until at least March, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will have no choice but to sign a midfielder for the Gunners during the January transfer window.

At the moment the No.1 priority appears to be a defensively minded player with Arsenal being linked strongly with Southampton’s Victor Wanyama, Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho and Porto duo Danilo and Ruben Neves.

Our view here at Soccer Transfers is that Wenger already has a deal in place for Paris Saint-Germain holding midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

All Wenger really needs right now is cover for Francis Coquelin, with current stand in Mathieu Flamini failing to have the same impact as his younger countryman has on the team, and with Flamini’s and Mikel Arteta’s contracts both up at the end of the season it is time for a new man to come in.

January is always a difficult time for transfers though, with many a manager’s first choice targets not available until the end of the season, which makes us believe that a loan deal for the 20-year-old PSG man will suit all parties concerned.

Rabiot is fed up with not getting any playing time at the Parc des Princes when trainer Laurent Blanc has other options available, and has told French television programme Telefoot that he is looking to leave the French capital even if it is only on loan.

With the European Championships taking place next summer in France, Rabiot is worried that his lack of game time will put national team trainer Didier Deschamps off from including him in his squad.

A loan move to title chasing Arsenal in the Premier League would not only get Rabiot the exposure that he wants but at the same time solve Arsenals current dilemma as well, which is why for all concerned a loan move makes all kinds of sense.
