Few weeks ago Sky Sports and Sports Bild of Germany both reported Arsenal have practically agreed a deal to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach Granit Xhaka but if newer reports in France are to be believed, it is either Arsenal have dropped interest in the former FC Basel star or want to sign both he and N’Golo Kante of Leicester City.

According to various reports in the French media, Arsenal have held initial talks with Kante and his represenatives with a view of bringing the Frenchman to the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reported to have been made aware of a £20million release clause in the contract of the high rated box to box workaholic midfielder and will attempt to sign him. Reports claim Wenger is keen to sign the Frenchman and will try to get a deal done before the European Championship starts in June.

The good thing is Claudio Ranieri has confirmed earlier last month that he will not stop any of his players to leave if they so want to. And if he keeps to his words, Arsenal will have a good chance of signing the Frenchman.

With Rosicky, Flamini and Arteta likely to leave Arsenal this season, Arsenal could do with the signing of another midfielder but certainly not two. Should Arsenal sign Kante and Xhaka, more than the aforementioned trio will have to leave and it could well be Chamberlain.
