West Brom manager Tony Pulis has weighed in with his ten-cents regarding football managers philosophies advising up and coming managers to ‘Forget philosophies – get results.’

The 63-year-old former Stoke and Crystal Palace boss made these latest comments in a week that saw the firing of Gary Monk at Swansea and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville be handed his first real managers job with La Liga side Valencia.

While at the same time Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has seen his style of play come undone with losses against Wolfsburg and Bournemouth.

West Brom boss Pulis takes his Baggies to Anfield this afternoon with one thing on his mind, and that is to come away with either one or three points and not worry about trying to put his personal stamp on the team saying: “I had a call this week from a young manager saying it was his first job, he wanted to do this and that and needed to get his philosophy across.

“So I stopped him and told him, “Forget about philosophies – you’ve got to win a few games, mate’

“To do that you must find out the team’s strengths and play to them. You need to cut out all the other nonsense, go back to basics and win games.

“If you’re a manager in the Premier League the pressure is enormous because if you don’t win matches, you’ll not be there very long.

“In our industry everything is about those 90 minutes and getting three points. It’s as simple as that.”
