Manchester United are one step closer to the signing of one of their major summer transfer targes according to reports this week. Renato Sanches who is widely regarded as one of the best youngsters in Europe at the moment has reportedly been on the radar of Manchester United for sometime with reports claiming the Red Devils will make a big money offer for him this summer.

He was said to be on his way to Old Trafford last summer but a deal could not be agreed but if Portuguese newspaper A Bola is anything to go by, that disagreement between Manchester United and Benfica has now been resolved and the English club will pay £40 million to sign the player who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea lately.

Should he be signed, he will likely be United’s replacement for soon to depart Michael Carrick and with Bastain Schweinsteiger not looking like he will ever overcome his injury woes, signing Renato Sanches could be a double edge sword of sort for United.

However, what could ruin the deal for United is the fact that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also interested in signing him. The aforementioned clubs could beat United to the signing of the youngster if they are truly interested.

Thing is, United is no longer as attractive as Bayern Munich, Barca and Real Madrid and if it comes to it, the young Portuguese could decide to go to any of the trio instead of signing for Manchester United. They all can give him the chance of playing the Champions league and United can’t offer that.

However, with United, he will know he has a better chance of playing regularly and that could well work in the favour of the Red devils.
