February is fixture hell for Arsenal

February could very well be the month that defines Arsenal’s season after having drawn Liverpool at home in the 5th round of the FA Cup, a draw which will also feature the other two teams in the top four Manchester City and Chelsea squaring off at the Etihad.
Chelsea beat Stoke City today 1-0 at Stamford Bridge and will now travel up to the Northwest with the hopes of spoiling City’s dream of winning four trophies and winning the mind game as the two sides battle it out with Arsenal and Liverpool to see who be this seasons Premier League champions.
Arsenal is in the best position the club has been in since winning their last trophy back in 2005 with February looking as though it will be the month the Gunners are going to need to be resolute in order to keep the dream of silverware alive.
The first test will come against Crystal Palace at a sold out Emirates Stadium on the 2dn of February before traveling up to Merseyside to take on Liverpool at Anfield on February 8th.
The following week it is Arsenal at home where they will entertain Manchester United and new January signing Juan Mata on the 12th before playing Liverpool again just three days later in the 5th round of the FA Cup at the Emirates on Saturday the 15th.
As if that was not bad enough the Gunners then must then take on last season’s Champions League winners Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League match at the Emirates on Wednesday the 19th of February.
What this means is that the Gunners will face Liverpool twice along with Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the space of just 11 days.
The month finishes with a home game against Sunderland on the 22nd after which hopefully we will have emerged unscathed and still on track for three trophies.
