Everton are considering rivaling Liverpool in the race to sign Clint Dempsey from Fulham.
David Moyes is looking to bolster his squad after selling Jack Rodwell for £12m and Dempsey would be an ideal replacement for Tim Cahill.
Liverpool have bid £5m for Dempsey and could use Charlie Adam as part of any potential deal.
Moyes is also keen on Blackpool’s Matt Phillips and still has a chance of landing Adam Johnson on loan from Manchester City.
