Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is doubtful for Saturdays match against Manchester United at Old Trafford after having to be brought off at halftime during Belgium’s Euro 2016 win over Cyprus last Sunday.

The Liverpool Echo reports that the 24-year-old might still be struggling with a thigh strain, and is now uncertain to feature in what for every Liverpool fan is one of the season’s most important fixtures against the clubs biggest rivals Manchester United.

Liverpool will also be without Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho who is suspended for the game after picking up two-yellow cards in their last match against West Ham.

As for Manchester United defensive midfielder Michael Carrick, a start in the big game is doubtful after the 34-year-old picked up a calf-strain as England beat San Marino 6-0 in their Euro 2016 qualifier, and is definitely missing for tonight’s match against Switzerland at Wembley.
