Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert has been given permission to undergo a medical at West Bromwich Albion after the Reds agreed to accept £3 million for the 33-year-old front-man.
Lambert joined the Reds last summer from Southampton for £4.5 million, but is now surplus to requirements at Anfield following the arrival of Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Divock Origi.
While speaking about his new signing Baggies manager Tony Pulis said: “I think it is very important we get players who score goals and Rickie has a great goal-scoring record.”
“From what I can gather from people at Liverpool, his fitness levels are very good and he is desperate to play football.
“He didn’t play last year so it would be like bringing a brand new car out of the garage if you did sign him, just putting a bit of petrol in him and letting him run.”
