Young Greek international Savvas Mourgos has been rewarded with his first professional contract with the Gunners according to an official statement from the Gunners. Savvas Mourgos has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club after featuring regularly for the club’s under 18s this season.

The Greek under 17 star signed for Arsenal last summer. He was spotted by Arsenal’s scouts while playing for Greece clubside Panionios’ Under 20s side. Mourgos who plays primarily as a central midfielder for Frans De Kat’s team can also play as a lone striker or a second striker and has had stint as a full back.

He only recently earned a call up to the Arsenal under 21 side which shows it is only a matter of time before he gets to play for the first team in the cup games just like the likes of Alex Iwobi and Hector Bellerin did before they both became a regular with the Arsenal first team. This is certainly good news for Arsenal as by offering him a professional contract, the Gunners won’t be losing him to other clubs unless they choose to release him.

With the likes of Bellerin, Mourgos, Alex Iwobi, Zelalem, Chuba Akpom, Chris Willock and co, Arsenal seem to be in for a swell future and it is thanks to Arsene Wenger who is well known for the way he has transformed the Arsenal academy.
