Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has finally completed his £32.5 million move to Liverpool after peening a long-term deal that sees him become the clubs seventh signing of the summer.
The arrival of the Belgium international takes the clubs summer spending spree to £80 million following on from Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan and Joe Gomez.
The 24-year-old underwent a two day medical in London under the supervision of club doctor Andy Massey, who travelled back early from the Reds pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East.
The signing process got held up due to an administrative problem, but was finally completed at Liverpool’s Melwood training facility on Wednesday evening, with no concern at any time that they deal would not go through.
