Roberto Di Matteo could make a shock move to Napoli if Chelsea fail to appoint him as their new manager.

Di Matteo a target for Napoli as Chelsea stall

Di Matteo has worked wonders at Stamford Bridge since taking over the reins from Andre Villas-Boas back in February.

The Italian coach has defied all the odds to win the FA Cup and the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

But despite his amazing spell in charge, Chelsea are still yet to confirm who their new manager will be for next season.

There are no shortage of clubs interested in wanting Di Matteo to be their new manager and reports in Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim Napoli have made him their number one candidate.

There is uncertainty surrounding the future of current Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri who is remaining coy on his future with the club.

The Italian side want a top-quality replacement should Mazzarri depart the club and are willing to offer Di Matteo a two-year deal, with the option of a third year.
