The Derby Telegraph is reporting that in a great piece of marketing Derby County football club has told their fans that if they purchase their season tickets before the early-bird deadline in March that the club will refund 50% of the purchase price should the Rams win promotion to the Premiership.

Currently manager Steve McLaren’s side is in fourth place in the Championship and right up there with a chance of promotion next season.

Chief executive of Derby County Sam Rush says it is an unusual offer for the club to make, but sees it as a way of rewarding the fans loyalty.

“If we are successful we believe the support ought to be rewarded,” he said.

“Our objectives for this campaign were made clear back in August and I am pleased to say we are currently on track for that top-six play-off spot.

“The progress on the pitch has been there for all to see and is reflected by our league position.”

The early-bird deadline is March 16

The club currently has 17,000 season ticket holders who will be able to renew their tickets for next season for £510 knowing that should the club gain promotion they will receive a refund of £255.
