Reports in Italy suggest that Daniele De Rossi has not come to terms with new Roma boss Zdenek Zeman and is pushing to leave the Stadio Olimpico.

De Rossi's unhappy in Italy... Chelsea and Man City on alert

By Alex Hankin

The Italy midfielder is reportedly not enjoying life under the club’s new management and is ready to bring his 12-year association with Roma to an end.

Chelsea and Manchester City have long been admirers of the 29-year-old box-to-box scurrier, but De Rossi has repeatedly stated his commitment to Roma… until now.

Whether it’s too late for a switch to the Premier League remains to be seen.

Manchester City have arguably got a surplus of midfielders already, and Chelsea’s ‘out with the old’ transfer strategy – which is likely to see Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole packing their bags – might seem at odds with a move for a player entering the autumn of his career.

The money might be an issue too for a player moving into the ‘no re-sale value’ era of life, with Italian sources reportedly rating De Rossi at £20million and lumpy wages to match.
