De Gea to Real Madrid may be OFF after both sides reach a stalemate

According to Spanish sports newspaper Marca this evening Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is now off after the two clubs came to a stalemate today during negotiations.

Marca is claiming that the Red Devils will not accept less than £28.1 million for the 24-year-old Spanish international while the Daily Star claims a higher figure of £30 million is what they need to get a deal done.

The main sticking point however is that Manchester United really wants Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos, and is hoping to use De Gea as a bargaining chip to push a deal through.

Real Madrid for their part have gotten rid of Iker Casillas to Porto, opening up the number one spot for De Gea, while also knowing if they wait until next summer that can sign the young Spaniard for nothing, when he walks away from Old Trafford a free-agent.
