Spanish international goalkeeper David De Gea was assumed to be on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu as a replacement for Iker Casillas following some world-class performances for the Red Devils in recent weeks.

De Gea moved to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid for £18 million in 2011 and is one of United most consistent performer’s week in week out, and now that reports say he has told Real Madrid that he will extend his contract with Manchester United until 2020 it will come as a huge relief to manager Louis van Gaal.

Now knowing that he does not have to worry about losing 24-year-old De Gea the Dutchman can concentrate on signing Borussia centre back Mats Hummels.
