David Beckham has revealed he will donate his full £150,000-a-week salary to a children’s charity after signing a five-month deal at Paris Saint-Germain.

The former England skipper, who has moved to the French club on a contract until the end of the season, announced the charitable gesture at a press conference held in Paris this afternoon.

‘Throughout this time now I won’t receive any salary, it will go towards a local children’s charity in Paris and we’re very excited and proud about that,’ said Beckham.

According to reports in France, the 37-year-old will pick up a basic £150,000-a-week at PSG but that is likely to be boosted by playing and performance bonuses.

And that’s not to mention the lucrative sponsorship and commercial deals that are set to follow, with brand Beckham rolling into Paris on a grand scale.

Indeed, it’s thought that while David will remain at the new family home in London, he is planning to spend a large portion of his time across the channel, with new soccer schools and potential fashion tie-ups in the pipeline.

But the gesture is a remarkable one for Beckham’s chosen charity, who over his five month spell in France stand to pocket around £3million.
