Danny Welbeck’s injury against Manchester City yesterday appears to be bad than it was initially thought and the striker could now be set for another lengthy injury lay-off. After under-going surgery on his kneel, then missing nine months of Arsenal, Welbeck had been one of Arsenal’s best players since he returned from Injury in February.

His performance for the Gunners since February was such that many Arsenal fans and even neutrals felt the England star is a sure banker for the European Championship starting on June 10. Wenger had hinted yesterday the injury could be bad.

“Danny Welbeck has a knee problem. I hope it is not too bad. We need to wait for a scan, I hope that it is not bad one and a meniscus.” the Arsenal manager said

“When I say good, that means he will not be out of the Euros. The bad news would be if he is out of the Euros, but I don’t know. I’m an optimist. I don’t know if it is a lateral meniscus. Lets wait until we get the real diagnosis.”

Reports now claim the England international will be out for as much as six weeks which in effect rules him out of the European Championship which will be a big disappointment for him.

Arsenal fans will however be hoping that Welbeck won’t have another set back which will force him to miss pre-season. A good pre-season could go a long way to help him have a solid season for Arsenal next season.

Arsenal are expected to make an official announcement later today.
