As Liverpool were preparing for Fridays final match of their pre-season tour of Australian and Asia, an open training session with Liverpool and local Malaysian Premier League side Felda United turned into a 60 minute match at the bequest of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, so that he could give an outing to some of the younger fringe members of the squad that saw Ryan Fulton in goal and a back four of Andre Wisdom, Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho and Joe Maguire.
Seeing Sakho in the team suggests that Dejan Lovren may get the start alongside Skrtel against a Malaysian select XI later today in Kuala Lumpur.
New signing Danny Ings played upfront as the lone striker with Sheyi Ojo, Pedro Chirivella, Jordan Rossiter, Joao Carlos Teixeira and Lazar Markovic in behind him.
Liverpool of course sailed to an impressive 7-0 victory, but it was Danny Ings clinical finishing that really caught the eye and bodes well for the coming season.
