The Daily Mirror is today reporting that Danish international Daniel Agger had a heart-to-heart talk with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers while on a tour of pre-season friendlies in the United States during which time Agger begged Rodgers to let him sign for Barcelona.

A move to the Nou Camp for the 29-year-old would almost certainly see Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen to go to Manchester United, which all along has been his preferred destination.

The £12 million rated Agger reportedly told the Reds boss that he thought he was facing a losing battle to get his starting place back in the team after having only made 23 appearances last season, and that the best thing for both him and the club would be for him to leave.
