Liverpool’s director of football Damien Comolli has said there will be not big spending at the club come this summer.

Dalglish told there will be no big spending this summer
Since Kenny Dalglish returned to the Reds Liverpool have spent around £120 million on new players, but have also sold off a few to help offset their spending by £60 million.

The selling of out of form Fernando Torres to Chelsea for £50 looks like a masterstroke, but his replacement Andy Caroll has yet to score the amount of goals everyone was hoping for.

Comolli had this to say: ‘It is early days. We will probably make some adjustments in the summer but nothing that we’ve done before,’ he said.
‘We signed nine players since Kenny came back so there will be a few adjustments but nothing massive.

‘We have done the hard work and now it is a question of making some adjustments in certain positions.

‘Kenny has said it several times that we have a very competitive squad and all positions are covered by two or three players, quality players, and we have a lot of young players coming through as well.”

Comolli thinks that tomorrow’s game at home for the Reds against Arsenal is crucial for Liverpool if they want a top four finish.

Both teams are coming off big wins Arsenals demolition of Spurs 5-2. While Liverpool won the Carling Cup against Brighton at Wembley.

Comolli added: “We have a massive game against Arsenal at the weekend.”

“The next priority is to win the next game.”

“When you see the results at the weekend with Arsenal beating Spurs we definitely need to win on Saturday.”

Comolli thinks that Liverpool’s Cup triumph is a fantastic boost for the players.

“It is a fantastic statement and also we are back in Europe early in the season,”
“We know it will bring us positive dynamic for the rest of the season.”
‘It is a fantastic way to end February with a trophy already but we know we have a lot to play for until May.
