Line-Up: Manchester United team to play West Brom

Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira has been reported to have been to Manchester for the past two days to discuss the purported transfer of Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches to Manchester United in the summer.

Vieira is reported to have spoken to Ed Woodward and Sanches’ agent Jorge Mendes regarding the summer move which Benfica is expecting to get more than the €40 million and €20 million in bonuses that United is presently offering.  Some reports claim a medical is already scheduled for the player and it will take place before the start of the European Championship in June.

The transfer has been in the news for a long time now and does not seem to be dying down anytime soon, making it look more likely  the youngster will make the move soon. With Manchester City also said to be interested in the player, it explains why United have had to pay a premium for the signature of the Portuguese.

Sanches from the little I have seen from him is certainly a good player but let’s be honest, he is just 19 and certainly not a £46.5 million player but United have no choice as City would readily pay the amount Benfica are demanding.

Sanches is regarded as highly talented and one who can become a success in the future which explains the reason Bayern Munich’s coach Pep Guardiola rates him amongst the best of his age. If Manchester United go ahead and sign Sanches, the midfielder might be managed by Jose Mourinho who is expected to be named United’s manager in a fortnight.
