City agree Rodwell deal

By Graeme Bailey
Everton have confirmed they have agreed a fee with Manchester City for England international Jack Rodwell.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who can also play in defence, is set to undergo a medical with the Premier League champions on Sunday.

Rodwell has just returned to full fitness after a hamstring injury which has limited him to just four appearances this year.

He missed out on a place in the Olympics, but has featured throughout pre-season for Everton and was seen as one of their key figures going into the new season.

However, now Everton – who have never hidden their financial struggles – have accepted an offer from City.

Rodwell, who was a target for Manchester United last summer before they opted to sign Phil Jones instead, is now set to become City’s first signing of the summer.

Rodwell came through the youth ranks at Everton, and made his debut in 2008 but injuries have limited him to less than 100 appearances.

He has two years left on his current deal at Goodison Park.
