Chilean international Arturo Vidal has rubbished reports saying that he is on his way to Manchester United.

The Juventus midfielder was strongly linked all summer to a move to Old Trafford as Dutchman Louis van Gaal looked to rebuild the team, and was also thought to have Real Madrid looking into the possibility of getting the 27-year-old to move to the Spanish capital, yet Vidal insists he was only recovering from knee surgery and has no plans to leave the Italian champions anytime soon.

Speaking to Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport Vidal said: ‘The truth is I was calm and relaxed this summer, only focusing on my knee.

‘I never once asked my agent or Juventus if something was happening.

‘I have a pact with my agent: if there is something concrete, he alerts me. He did not alert me.’

Ahead of Sunday’s top of the table clash against Roma, Vidal would not answer whether or not he would have gone to United if the opportunity arose saying: ‘I really don’t know. All I can say is I’m happy in Turin, my wife loves Turin and the little ones are happy here.

‘My family’s happiness is more important than anything else.’
