According to reports coming out of Russia and what is being said in the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is eager to sign Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o after Russian team Anzhi Makhachkala plan to offload all their high wage earning stars.

There was plenty of talk about what was going on when manager Guus Hiddink suddenly resigned a couple of weeks ago, and now we know the reason was due to the club wanting to cut expenses.

Various reports are saying that Anzi owner Suleyman Kerimov has changed his mind about the club after having invested £130 million without seeing the success he envisioned while other are saying that it is due to one of his other business dealings with a Belarusian business partner that has seen him lose £240 million.

Whatever the reason the club is having a fire-sale offloading all their expensive imports that include Eto’o, Willian, Christopher Samba and Lassana Diarra, all of whom could attract interest from the Premier League.

Eto’o is said to be the world’s highest paid player earning a staggering £350,000 per week, and at 32-years-old I cannot imagine Chelsea offering him that kind of money to play in London, but he and Jose Mourinho got on well together while they were both at Inter Milan, so if some kind of agreement can be made we could see Eto’o and possibly Willian at the Bridge.
