Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane will be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer for £35 million as Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants to scoop up the Manchester United target by paying Real Madrid’s full asking price for the 21-year-old, who along with Kurt Zouma Blues boss Mourinho has called one of the best young defenders in the world.

Chelsea have been tracking the French international for months now, and attempted to sign him during the January transfer window, but no deal was done.

Varane has demanded talks with Real Madrid about his future with the club amongst reports that say Chelsea are ready to swoop in with a £35 million offer that they are confident will deter Manchester United.

Mourinho first signed Varane from French club Lens while he was the manager at Real Madrid, and still sees the quality in the player now thinking that pairing the 21-year-old with his fellow French international teammate Kurt Zouma will soften the blow when captain John Terry retires while at the same time taking Chelsea to the next level completing a young team that will compete for years to come.
