Rooney, Mourinho, Chelsea, MAN United, transfer,

“We make the bid and they say no again, what do we lose? One email?” says Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea are prepared to make a take it or leave £40 million bid for England international after the clash between the two footballing giants at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Even though United have insisted all along that Rooney is not for sale, Blues boss Mourinho knows that the Manchester United man would love to come and play for him at Chelsea.

As a bit of a sweetener the Chelsea boss has even left a clue that he might be willing to offer up Spain midfielder Juan Mata in order to get the deal done.

Having high jacked attacking midfielder Willian from under the nose of Tottenham, the Portuguese manager believes that Rooney would be the final piece of his puzzle as the Blues set out to win the Premiership title.

“We are going to get a maximum of two players in this transfer window, so if we get the second piece it will be the final piece.”

“The two answers we got from Manchester United so far were ‘We don’t accept the bid, we are not interested in selling the player.’ That’s the only official contact we have had with Manchester United.

“Until Monday is finished, we have nothing more to add to it. We want to respect Manchester United and respect football.”

Should Chelsea fail in their bid for Rooney Mourinho could then move for Arsenal target Karim Benzema, Samuel Eto’o, or Porto’s Jackson Martinez.
