Anderlecht striker Aleksander Mitrovic was all set to join Newcastle United before making a dramatic last minute U-turn, with is now looking as if he is heading for Chelsea.

The 20-year-old Serbian international will have the opportunity to play Champions League football at Stamford Bridge, while providing cover for Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao, and while he will get anywhere near the playing time he would have received at St James Park, the money and the opportunity to play for the Premiership champions is a big attraction for the youngster.

His signing would also spell the end of Loic Remy’s short one-season with the club, and may also signal a move for the striker to link up with his former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace.
