With it looking increasingly likely that Chelsea number two goal keepers Petr Cech will leave the club during the summer, the club is weighing up their options as who to sign and have got the name of Tottenham back-up keeper 44-year-old Brad Friedel on their list of possible candidates.

The Blues will of course try and get Cech to stay on, but the 32-year-old knows that it will only be as a back-up for Mourinho’s preferred choice Belgium international Thibaut Courtois, who at only 22-years-old should remain the Blues top keeper for years to come.

As for Cech he would like a return to first team football and has Arsenal, Liverpool, Roma, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco all waiting to see if he will become available in July.

American Brad Friedel turns 44 in May and has the kind of European experience that the Blues boss would be looking for as well as 450 Premiership appearances for Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa and Tottenham, his current club who he signed for in 2011.

At the moment he is third choice at White Hart Lane behind Hugo Lloris and Michael Vorm, and is working on his coaching badges while also working as a football pundit for Fox Sports.
