Chelsea to bid £38.5m for French Defender

It is no shock that Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is high up on a list of players that the Portuguese manager would like to bring to Stamford Bridge this summer, and in order to get the man he calls one of the best young defenders in the world to partner his France international teammate Kurt Zouma Mourinho is ready to pull out all the stops to make it happen.

The rumour is that Varane has become increasingly unsettled by the situation at Real Madrid with him having to compete with Pepe for a place in the team, and that he might be tempted to link up with his former boss Jose Mourinho knowing that John Terry’s time at the west London club is coming to an end.

Madrid has reached out to the 22-year-old, but Mourinho seems confident that he can get Varane to move to London, and will submit a bid in the coming weeks.

If Chelsea can pull this off they will have two world class defenders in their back four who given their ages could play for the Blues for the next ten years.
