Here is a bit of shook news after it was already assumed that Manchester United would be the big English team to go after real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, it now appears that Chelsea is prepared to jump into the fray with a £72.3 million bid of their own.

The likelihood of the Welsh winger leaving Spain is a high possibility after having fallen foul of the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu, and given the 25-year-old’s vast experience in the Premier League it would be a safe bet to assume he would take up from where he left of at Tottenham.

And while Louis van Gaal is thought to have been lining up Bale as his marque summer signing, Jose Mourinho certainly not only has the financial clout but also a team that will be well-placed next season not only to win the Premiership but also the Champions, while Manchester United still face a tough battle for a top-four finish.

According to reports out of Spain Bale is becoming disillusioned by the day, and an offer by Chelsea of £72.3 million would be enough for Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to cut him loose after such a short spell in the Spanish Capital.

Should Bale move to Stamford Bridge he would become Chelsea’s highest paid player on a wage of a staggering £300,000 per-week something we think Mourinho should think about before going after the Welshman, yet if it was Lionel Messi we were talking about, I do not think his wage would even be a worry for the Blues to pay as they know he is a world-class player that Bale does not come close to matching up to.
