Chelsea captain John Terry has started the mind games with Tottenham ahead of tomorrow’s Capital One Cup final at Wembley after having told Spurs star striker Harry Kane that he had not achieved anything yet.

Kane was the star player when the two clubs met back on New Year’s Day inflicting a 5-3 loss on Jose Mourinho’s men, and he will be looking to help sink the Chelsea ship again tomorrow.

And while the Tottenham youngster has scored 24 goals this season, Terry insists he still has to prove he is just not a flash in the pan.

Terry said: “He has got to be able to do that year after year – and for England I hope he does.

“It is great to see young players coming through and getting their opportunities and staying in the squad so if he keeps scoring there’s no reason why he can’t stay in.

“He is a very good player. His movement is fantastic and he is in great goal-scoring form. But there’s still a long way to go.”

The Chelsea defender insists that the Blues are not out for revenge following the 5-3 while reminding everyone that Chelsea beat Spurs 3-0 earlier in the season.

He said: “Everyone is rattling on about that. But for me it was fairly comfortable for us at the Bridge when we won 3-0.

“Listen, you do get beat throughout the season, it’s not our only defeat this season. Obviously at the time we were disappointed but you move on and bounce back the following week.

“So I don’t see it as a revenge thing, ‘Oh we have to beat them because they beat us 5-3! We also remember we beat them 3-0. That’s football. “

Kane proved to be a nightmare for Gary Cahill the last time the two teams met, but the defender says he learnt his lesson and that it would not happen again.

He said: “Some days you have an off day. It was one to learn from and forget. You don’t dwell on it.

“I thought Harry Kane was a good player before the game. This season he has been terrific and obviously he’s pushing for an England place now.

“But this is one game to win the cup and I’m looking forward to it. I don’t think the last game has anything to do with this one.

“I’ve been blessed to win the two European trophies and the FA Cup. This is one I haven’t got so I’m unbelievably hungry to win it.”
