Chelsea set to make second bid or Everton defender in the next 48 hours

After having their first bid of £20 million for Everton defender John Stones rejected by the Toffee’s, the Blues are ready to go back to the table within the next 48 hours to present a second improved bid of £26 million for the 21-year-old.

Everton meanwhile are holding out for a British transfer record for a defender of £34 million for the young England international, who Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho sees as the next John Terry.

So far Everton manager Roberto Martinez and club Chairman Bill Kenwright are insisting that their star player is not for sale, and while Chelsea say they will refuse to be held hostage, if manager Jose Mourinho wants something badly enough he always finds a way to do it, meaning that there is still a possibility that Stones will be a Chelsea player before the Charity Shield match against Arsenal at Wembley on Sunday August 2nd.
