Chelsea may well have been looking to tempt Mexican international from Old Trafford following the arrival of Robin Van Persie, which may well have led to the Man United man falling further down the pecking order for the coming campaign having struggled for a regular first team spot last season.

Chelsea Make Official Approach for Man United Striker Javier Hernandez According to Reports

The West London club have spent all summer lining up moves for a new striker following the departure of talisman Didier Drogba and now Blues owner Roman Abramovich may consider a move for the 24 year old marksman. Chicharito has found it hard to cement a regular spot in the Man United starting eleven and saw his form suffer as a result.

The former Guadajara star started just 18 Premier League games last term and may well see his first team chances further limited by Van Persie’s arrival and was already playing third fiddle to Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck so a move away may well be considered but one wonders what chance Chelsea have of persuading Ferguson selling to a rival club.

Abramovich has already forked out £60m plus this summer to bring Eden Hazard, Marko Marin, Thorgan Hazard and Oscar and is still looking to beef up Roberto Di Matteo’s squad ahead of a renewed Premier League challenge having seen Chelsea fall 25 points off the pace last term.

Currently Di Matteo will have depend heavily on £50m Spaniard Fernando Torres who has thus far steadfastly failed to make an impact at the club, netting just seven goals in 46 Premier League appearances. Though England international Daniel Sturridge is available to fill a striking role it would appear that Italian does not have a great deal of faith in the 22 year old, leaving him out of both the FA Cup and Champions League finals last term.
