Chelsea is preparing to open up new contract talks with manager Jose Mourinho despite the Blues having crashed out of Europe this past week.

Manager Jose Mourinho’s team suffered a huge blow midweek crashing out of the Champions League to French champions Paris Saint-Germain on the away goal rule after having drawn the first-leg in Paris 1-1, Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw at home that was enough to see Laurent Blanc’s team go through to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Despite this club owner Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovich want to offer the Portuguese manager a new contract at the club.

A source close to Abramovich said last night: “Roman has no complaints.

“He will definitely want Jose to stay, even if they do not win the league.”

The Russian oligarch thinks that Mourinho is doing a good job in his second spell at the club, both on and off the pitch.

Chelsea has already won the Capital One Cup and are sitting five points clear of Manchester City with a game in hand, and add to this the fact Mourinho has done good business for the club making a profit in the past two transfer windows.

Following the loss to PSG, club captain John Terry had this to say: “Now it’s the Premier League.”

“We’ve got the Capital One Cup out of the way, that’s in the pocket and the Premier League’s all we’ve got.

“We’re a few points clear and we need to keep that gap and maintain it.

“We can only do that by responding and doing that the right way and coming back to the Bridge on Sunday against Southampton and picking up three points.

“This defeat makes us hungrier. The manager said then if we can win the Capital One Cup and the Premier League, it will be a very successful year.”
