Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid

Chelsea are now the favourites to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira after reports emerged saying that Los Blancos were making enquiries as to the availability of now Blues number two keeper Petr Cech.

For years the Czech international shot stopper was Jose Mourinho and his predecessor’s first choice, but ever since Belgium international Thibaut Courtois returned from a two-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid, Cech has found himself relegated to the Chelsea bench.

Meanwhile Real Madrid has been looking for a goalkeeper to replace Iker Casillas with Manchester United’s David De Gea expected to be the man they would try and sign.

United for their part do not need the cash and with new manager Louis van Gaal looking to rebuild the team he certainly would not be in favour of losing his top goalkeeper a fact Real Madrid trainer Carlo Ancelotti is well aware of leading the Italian to turn his attention to Petr Cech.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho always had a good relationship with Khedira during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, and would love nothing more than to see the German international move to Stamford Bridge where he would play a part in the Blues title ambitions.

This must surely dash any hopes Arsene Wenger had of bringing Khedira to the Emirates and may well now have the Frenchman turn his attention to Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote.
