Chelsea move to highjack Spurs signing

Reports are emerging that Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea are moving in to highjack the Tottenham’s signing of  Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala’s Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian.

The 25-year-old was in London for a medical yesterday, and was expected to sign for Spurs after agreeing to an £85,000 per-week salary with Tottenham.

However Sky Sports News is reporting that the youngster is now in talks with Chelsea regarding a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has labelled Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney as his main target this summer, but has made it clear that the Blues have a list of backup candidates of which Willian could be one of.

Then again it could be that Chelsea looks at Spurs as a serious threat this season, and would rather sign Willian than have him play against them.
