Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho still skating on THIN-ICE

Following on from Chelsea’s eighth Premier League loss of the season there is no guarantee that Blues boss Jose Mourinho will still keep his job, even if Chelsea manage to beat Portuguese side Porto at Stamford Bridge Wednesday night and move on to the knockout stages of the Champions League, which begin in February.

Directors at the club are still concerned that the Blues domestic form is in tatters with no apparent light at the end of the tunnel pointing as to how Mourinho can turn the season around.

The west London based club now sits just two points above the relegation zone in the English Premier League and given current form suggests they will not achieve that all important top-four finish that ensures all that Champions League money for next seasons campaign.

So far the club has kept faith in Mourinho, but should they lose again next weekend to league leaders Leicester it may be Mourinho who pays the price for failing to get his £400 million squad to step up to the plate and deliver the type of performances that won the league last season.

And while Mourinho says he has no plans to sign players in January it is our understanding that the Chelsea board has told the 52-year-old that he has to do better with his current squad of star players before they would consider letting him spend more money.

Whether Mourinho will make it till Christmas remains to be seen, but given a lack of available managers out there at the moment it would be a case of the Blues appointing an interim manager till the end of the season should they decide to cut the Special One free.
