According to the Daily Express this morning Chelsea is ready to splash the cash on two summer signings from Real Madrid, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho wanting to sign both Gareth Bale and defender Raphael Varane.
The news out of Stamford Bridge is that with only the Premiership race to worry about Chelsea is preparing for next season, and that winning the Champions League is a priority for the Portuguese manager.
This summer’s spending spree will be kicked off by the arrival of Shakhtar Donetsk’s £18 million attacking midfielder Douglas Costa, which is already considered to be a done deal with Mourinho now set to do business with his former club in order to give Chelsea what will arguably be one of the finest squads in Europe.
