Chelsea appears to be in the driving seat to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin after bookies Betfair slashed their odds on Jose Mourinho to sign the 18-goal striker for £15 million.
Since the departure of Didier Drogba and the uncertainty of Loic Remy, who could leave in search of regular playing time, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been looking to bring in a striker who can provide cover for Blues number one Diego Costa.
According to Betfair Chelsea who cut their odds from 8/1 to 13/8 Chelsea is beating out Liverpool, Southampton, Newcastle and West Ham for Austin’s signature.
